So what makes this archetype so compelling? From the classics like Black Christmas, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, to meta genre deconstructions like Scream, The Cabin in the Woods, It Follows, and You’re Next, all these films have their own interpretations of the final girl that share many characteristics, but are nonetheless distinct. 1. I’m what movies do the black people among the main characters die first? I actually hear that joke and statement a lot but whenever I think of a movie I can only pinpoint the black people either dying last or surviving(final destination 5, house on haunted hill etc.) or just in the middle mostly after challenging the slasher themselves.

  2. I wonder if they’ll ever do a slasher movie with a Final Guy? You know, kinda switch things around to see how it’ll unfold, where they could have a guy and the movie could perhaps be a deconstruction of the archetypal macho hero or guy who saves the day kind of thing by making him just as vulnerable as the female in a lot of ways.

    1. I also know the second Nightmare on Elm Street has a Final Guy as well. But those are really only just three films out of how many Final Girl slasher movies.
