I recommend Tales of Symphonia
Some of the harder ones to find on this list are probably Phantasy Star (all 4 original games are on the Genesis Collection for PS3/360) and Skies of Arcadia (which as far as I know was last released on Gamecube) All the others are still pretty popular and can be found easily.

I’m glad you put Fei Fong Wong at Number 2 cause his struggle with his Id is incredible but Cloud Strife over Terra Branford? Cloud whom has little struggle, a bland back story and a cardboard personality over Terra who has one of the greatest story arcs and personalities in gaming history. Wow that is pandering.
Cloud as #1? Really? He wasn’t even the best character in that game.
Did not see Neku in Honorable Mentionts coming…
Kingdom oh Hearts is an action rpg…(close to a hack n slash style)… so it should not be here… And guys… crisis core was a bad game…
I’m callin it SORA!!!!! Or Zack because watching the end of FFVII: Crisis Core still makes me tear up a little.
Everyone arguing about Sora, I’m arguing about that there isn’t a fucking Pokemon trainer on the list.
Where is Justin from the first Grandia game?! I mean seriously you put silent Protagonists on this list but not a character like Justin whose has a personality, has a voice actor, and has an epic journey to uncover the mysteries of a lost ancient civilization, thwart a militarized government, journey across the globe and have an amazing character development with a unique cast of characters? Seriously?! I still wonder why people forget Grandia existed.
Fei and Shulk FTW! Also thought Luke from Tales of the Abyss should’ve made the list, but pretty good list overall.
