  1. The seriousness in Zootopia is why it made me love it so much. It was entertaining, yet serious. The message in it has made me think it’s one of the best modern animated movie ever.

  2. Once and for all: animated movies DOESN’T mean FOR KIDS. So stop putting movies like The Lego Movie in this category.

The Lego Movie, although it can be fun to watch for kids, is definitely not aimed at them. Or rather: the storyline, the arc of the characters can be relatable for the majority of people, but all the jokes, the cultural references are way out of children’s grasp. i can’t count how many friends have told me that when they went to the movies to see it, the room was full of kids taken there by their parents, and they didn’t laugh at all during the movie. It’s not because they’re dumb or whatever, it’s just that there are pop-culture references that they just don’t know. The Batman references (and DC in it’s whole), Vitruvius as the cliché character of the sage (and also a parody of Gandalf), but also all the jokes about the President distracting the whole population from his evil plans.

Some animated movies are not for kids. Get that into your head. Besides, anime is the ultimate proof is that.
