What’s your favorite scary movie? Wait, why are you screa… no, I’m not trying to kill… hello? Uh, hello? That was sufficiently weird. Apparently, it’s ill advised to call people at random and ask about their horror movie tastes… Anyway… Halloween is upon us, and I do love everything about this season. The changing leaves, the carved jack-o-lanterns, that persistent smell of pumpkin spiced lattes everywhere I go – but my favorite part is sitting down to a good movie. Has there ever actually been a proper movie about Samhain? You get all these gorefests and films about witches but they have nothing to do with the original mythos at all.
The Irish/Gaelic tales about Samhain are properly grotesque at time and i am surprised no-one has ever bothered to make such movies about it.
