When I was a kid, we lived in a.m old farm house. When my parents were restoring, updating the house, we found a trap door in the kitchen floor. There was a secret room that we learned was a safe place on the Underground Railroad! Not creepy, but very cool!

The room in #9 was probably a priest room. In the 16th century, under Elizabeth I’s reign, Catholicism was outlawed. As a result, secret rooms known as priest rooms were constructed to house priests and secret masses. The room looks much older than the house, so the house was most likely built on the grounds of a building that contained a priest room, and they left it there during construction.
