People understand that Christopher Columbus wasn’t the first European to step foot on the American Continents, in fact he never even made it to the mainland. There is even evidence that the Bronze Age was fulled by copper that was minded in the Great Lakes region that started somewhere around 3500 BC. However, his voyage was the first one in modern history that was followed up and continued to where we are now with the establishment of territories, towns ,and etc. The others that made it here first never had any meaningful follow up or settling that continued to this day. So he is credited with leading the charge to take over the Americas.
