Long Island itself isn’t remote (Far from it). Parts of the parkway however can be somewhat. Especially at night, it’s dark and lonely out there, and the further out you get, the more lonely it can get. Gilgo beach is just past Jones Beach State Park, which in summer is extremely well traveled.
The lipstick killer convicted may or may not have been the real killer. There’s some suspicions that the guy that did that also did the Black Dahlia. The kid that went to jail insists that the confession that convicted him was beaten out of him, a very real possibility at the time. Too, he was just a low level burglar. Really doesn’t fit the profile.
